Monkey Business

You type sentences. You get Words. You spend them on monkeys. The monkeys make more Words while you sit there and build a bigger tower. Make number go up.

There's a multiplayer mode where you can race friends on the same passage. You can put Words on the line, set wagers with your friends.

VERSION 0.2.1 Hotfix:
I changed a few things since initially releasing the project, here is a list of the main things I changed.

• Changed the size of some text that was too small
• Added a reset save button in the options menu with a confirmation popup.
  Allow monkey positions to be saved on game refresh.
• Tweak materials and desk/paper materials, and reposition several UI labels.
  Also remove a large set of unused UI sound files/imports.
• Implemented missing functionality for mischief level.
• Updated multiplayer percentage bar not showing final 100% completed value.
• Changed wager UX interaction.
• Graph not showing on first playthrough.
• Next floor stat display now shows how many words needed to achieve it.

FAQ

Q: Why do I not see any monkeys?

A: Make sure to Elevate to the first level, if it is your first playthrough, you'll be on the ground floor, you have to type 500 correct characters to advance. The button will appear in the top right once you do this

Q: Can you upgrade stuff?

A: Yes! You can upgrade both the monkeys and the keys you press, either click on a monkey and buy upgrades from there, or click on a key on the typewriter to upgrade that key.

Q: How do I play with friends?

A: Click the RACE A FRIEND button in the top right, host a lobby and send them a join code, then when everyone's in, click start game and have a race! If you want to wager, enter an amount below before you click start race. If anyone in your lobby doesn't want to wager, then there will be no stakes for anyone, just for fun! (Yes this does affect how much general money you have)

Q: Does it save?

A: Yes! The game automatically saves your progress whenever you close the app, exit to menu, and every 5 minutes. The game also saves typing stats like average wpm, how many characters you type and heaps more! Check these stats out in the middle button in the menu.

Q: Why does it say Windows protected your PC?

A: This is common for .exe files shared over itch and in general, Windows will automatically flag any unsigned .exe it hasn't seen before. It's safe to run! Just click "More info" then "Run anyway" and it'll open normally. I just haven't paid Microsoft to not do this. Also, when you first launch multiplayer, Windows Firewall may ask if you want to allow access just click Allow. If you skipped that prompt or multiplayer isn't connecting, search "Allow an app through Windows Firewall" in your Start menu and make sure Monkey Business is checked.
